Description
The RoleÂ
We are seeking a Manager of Mechanical Engineering to lead a team of 5–10 engineers focused on the mechanical design and integration of power conversion systems.Â
This role combines team leadership with deep technical ownership. You will be responsible for guiding the mechanical design of power electronics enclosures, integrating inverter systems into larger platforms, and ensuring robust solutions for thermal performance and environmental protection.Â
You will work closely with electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to deliver systems that are not only high-performance but also manufacturable, serviceable, and reliable in the field
Requirements
- Lead and develop a team of 5–10 mechanical engineersÂ
- Own the mechanical design of power electronics enclosures and inverter packagingÂ
- Drive system-level mechanical integration of inverter platforms into multi-megawatt (~5 MW) energy systemsÂ
- Design and optimize cooling solutions (air, liquid, hybrid) for high-power electronicsÂ
- Define strategies for environmental protection (IP-rated enclosures, sealing, corrosion resistance, etc.)Â
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless system integrationÂ
- Guide design tradeoffs across thermal performance, structural integrity, cost, and manufacturabilityÂ
- Lead design reviews, prototyping, and validation testing (thermal, environmental, mechanical)Â
- Ensure designs meet reliability, safety, and regulatory requirementsÂ
- Mentor engineers and build strong technical capability within the teamÂ
- Take ownership of system performance in real-world operating conditionsÂ
 QualificationsÂ
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)Â
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical design for complex electromechanical systemsÂ
- 2+ years of experience leading or managing engineering teamsÂ
- Strong expertise in:Â
- Enclosure design for industrial or outdoor systemsÂ
- Thermal management of power electronicsÂ
- Mechanical integration of complex systemsÂ
- Experience working with high-power systems (power electronics, industrial, energy, or similar)Â
- Knowledge of environmental protection design (IP ratings, sealing, materials, coatings)Â
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes (sheet metal, welding, machining, assembly)Â
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or similar) and mechanical simulation toolsÂ
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work at both system and component levelsÂ
- Effective communicator with cross-functional collaboration experienceÂ
  Benefits
- 401(k) with company matching
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Disability and life insurance
- Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
