B&A Communications, LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Underground Drill Operator / Foreman to lead a directional drilling crew performing underground telecommunications construction. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment, supervising field crews, and completing projects safely, efficiently, and to customer specifications.

We are looking for a motivated individual who takes pride in quality workmanship, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and can manage daily field operations while maintaining production goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operate horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment for underground fiber optic and coaxial cable installation.
Lead and supervise underground drilling crews, ensuring safe and efficient daily operations.
Plan and execute bore paths while identifying existing underground utilities and potential obstacles.
Read and interpret construction prints, utility maps, and project specifications.
Oversee equipment setup, drilling operations, conduit installation, and site restoration.
Coordinate daily crew assignments, equipment, materials, and production schedules.
Ensure proper equipment maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues.
Maintain accurate daily production reports, job documentation, and crew time records.
Communicate effectively with project managers, customers, and other field personnel.
Enforce company safety policies and industry best practices.

Qualifications

Previous experience operating horizontal directional drilling equipment required.
Experience leading an underground utility or telecommunications construction crew strongly preferred.
Knowledge of underground utility locating, bore planning, and safe excavation practices.
Experience installing underground fiber optic and coaxial telecommunications infrastructure preferred.
Ability to read construction prints and understand project specifications.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to operate and maintain drilling equipment and related machinery.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
CDL preferred but not required.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
Willingness to travel as needed based on project locations.
