The University of Tennessee Southern enthusiastically invites applications for the role of a full-time, non-tenure-track Instructor of Cybersecurity. This position combines student-centered teaching, curriculum development, and active service to advance the mission of the University, and the Cybersecurity Program. The Instructor of Cybersecurity will teach courses across cybersecurity and computer science that align with the applicant’s expertise, including areas such as network security, secure software development, systems security, ethical hacking and penetration testing, digital forensics, risk management, cloud security, and introductory programming or computing foundations.Â
Â
The applicant’s teaching approach must emphasize rigorous, inclusive, and practice-oriented learning. The applicant will design and improve courses with clear, measurable objectives; high expectations; transparent evaluation criteria; and multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate mastery. In cybersecurity and computer science courses, the applicant will use a combination of short lectures, guided demonstrations, hands-on labs, case studies, collaborative problem-solving, simulations, and project-based assessments. Students learn the theory behind secure systems, networks, software, data, and incident response, and how to apply that knowledge responsibly in realistic settings. The applicant will maintain high academic standards while providing structured feedback, accessible learning resources, and support that recognizes the varied backgrounds, experiences, and needs students bring to the classroom.Â
Â
This is an in-person position that begins August 1, 2027. Review of applications will begin immediately. For full consideration, please submit your application before 15 December 2026.Â
