Educational Qualification:
Essential: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science,Sustainability, Economics, Finance, Business, Energy/Climate or relateddiscipline.
Preferred: MBA, Master’s in Sustainability/Environmental Management/ClimateChange/Energy Management, CA/CFA or recognised ESG/Sustainabilitycertification.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are looking for a technicallystrong, client-facing ESG professional to lead and deliver ESG advisory andsustainability consulting engagements for corporate clients.
The role will cover BRSR/BRSRCore, sustainability reporting, ESG strategy, carbon accounting, climatechange, decarbonisation, CCTS readiness, Green Steel and emergingsustainability requirements.
The candidate willindependently manage multiple client engagements, lead consulting teams andexternal specialists, review technical deliverables, present recommendations tosenior management and contribute to business development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. ESG Advisory & BRSR:
- Lead end-to-end ESG advisoryengagements including ESG maturity/gap assessments, ESG strategy,governance, materiality, risk & opportunity assessment, KPI/target setting,benchmarking, due diligence and ESG roadmaps.
- Lead BRSR/BRSR Core assignments including applicability assessment, gap assessment, data-pointmapping, data validation, reporting support and assurance readiness.
- Develop ESG data templates,reporting protocols, internal controls and evidence frameworks.
- Review BRSR disclosures for accuracy,completeness, consistency and auditability
- Interpret BRSR requirements andexplain implications to CEOs, CFOs, Boards and functional heads.
2. Sustainability Reporting:
- Provide advisory on leading sustainability reporting and disclosure.frameworks, including:GRI | SASB | ISSB / IFRS S1 & S2 | TCFD | CDP | UN SDGs | GHGProtocol
- Â Conduct framework applicabilityand gap assessments.
- Develop cross-framework mappingand integrated reporting approaches.
- Support sustainability reportpreparation/review, KPI development and benchmarking.
- Keep abreast of evolving Indianand global ESG disclosure requirements.
3. Carbon, Climate &Decarbonisation:Â
- Lead climate and carbon advisory assignments covering:
- Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHGaccounting.
- GHG inventory andemission-factor assessment.
- Carbon accounting anddata-quality assessment.
- Climate risk and opportunityassessment.
- Physical and transition risk.
- Climate scenario analysis
- Net Zero and decarbonisationstrategies.
- Carbon reduction initiativesand verification readiness.
The candidate should be able to translate technical carbon data into business implications, financial risks and practical decarbonisationinitiatives.
4. CCTS & Carbon MarketAdvisory:
- Strong working knowledge of India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme(CCTS) is required.
Responsibilities include:
- CCTS applicability andreadiness assessments.
- GHG emissions-intensityassessment.
- Baseline and performanceassessment.
- Identification ofdecarbonisation opportunities.
- Carbon-credit/carbon-marketadvisory.
- Evaluation of carbon reductionprojects
- Coordination with technicalexperts and verification agencies.
- Advising clients on the impactof CCTS onoperations, cost, competitiveness and future strategy.
5. Green Steel& Industrial Decarbonisation:
- Exposure to Steel, Metals, Manufacturing or otherenergy-intensive industries are strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of:
Green Steel | Low-carbon steel | Carbon intensity | Product CarbonFootprint | LCA | Renewable Energy | Green Hydrogen | DRI/EAF | Scraputilisation | Energy efficiency | Circular economy | Carbon capture
Responsibilities may include Green Steel readiness, carbon-intensitybenchmarking, product carbon footprint, decarbonisation roadmaps, low-carbonproduct strategy and assessment of emerging international carbon regulations.
6. ESG Data,Controls & Assurance Readiness:
- Develop ESG data architecture,KPI definitions and data dictionaries
- Establish data ownership,validation and reconciliation mechanisms.
- Develop ESG controls, SOPs andMIS/dashboard frameworks.
- Conduct ESG data-qualityassessments
- Support BRSR Core and otherESG assurance readiness.
- Develop ESG risk/controlmatrices and evidence framing
- Identify and remediate controlgaps and coordinate with assurance providers.
7. Project, Team &Consultant Management:
- Manage multiple ESG consultingengagements simultaneously.
- Develop project plans,methodologies, scope, timelines and budgets.
- Lead consultants and analystsand review technical work.
- Monitor project profitability,risks and quality.
- Manage external technicalconsultants and specialists.
- Define SOWs/RFPs, evaluateproposals and technically challenge consultant methodologies and outputs.
- Ensure timely delivery andhigh-quality client deliverables.
8. ClientManagement & Business Development:
- Act as a key client contact andlead client workshops.
- Interview CXOs and functionalheads.
- Present findings andrecommendations to senior management and Boards.
- Translate complex ESG conceptsinto clear business recommendations.
- Build long-term clientrelationships
- Identify new opportunities andsupport proposals, pitches and solution development.
- Contribute to cross-selling,new client acquisition and growth of the ESG advisory practice.
Experience:
- 8–12 years of relevant ESG/sustainability consulting or advisory experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in BRSR/BRSRCore and sustainability reporting.
- Experience with ESG strategyand advisory.
- Strong knowledge of GHGaccounting/carbon management.
- Working knowledge of CCTS.
- Exposure to GreenSteel/industrial decarbonisation is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing consultingteams, multiple client engagements and external technical consultants.
- Strongsenior-management/client-facing experience.
- Exposure to ESGassurance/readiness assignments.
Technical Competencies:
ESG Reporting: BRSR, BRSR Core, GRI, SASB, ISSB/IFRS S1 & S2, TCFD, CDP, SDGs.
Carbon &Climate: GHG Protocol, Scope 1/2/3, carbonaccounting, emission factors, product carbon footprint, climate risk,decarbonisation and Net Zero.
Indian ESGLandscape: SEBI ESG/BRSR requirements, CCTS, Indiancarbon-market developments, ESG assurance and emerging sustainabilityregulations.
IndustrialSustainability: Green Steel, energy efficiency,renewable energy, green hydrogen, circular economy, resource efficiency andlow-carbon manufacturing.
