Strategic Account Executive: Strän Promotional Solutions

About Strän
Strän Promotional Solutions helps organizations bring their brands to life through promotional products, branded merchandise, company stores, fulfillment, creative services, and related marketing solutions. Our teams work across sales, client services, operations, technology, marketing, and other shared services to deliver thoughtful solutions and dependable execution for our clients.

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Strategic Account Executive who can lead client relationships, grow an established portfolio, and create new business opportunities. This role owns the commercial strategy for assigned and self-generated accounts, with responsibility for retention, year-over-year growth, revenue, gross profit, and the long-term value of each client relationship.
This is a hands-on sales and account leadership role. The Strategic Account Executive is expected to understand each client’s business, uncover opportunities across departments and stakeholders, and translate those needs into practical promotional product, branded merchandise, and online company-store solutions. Success requires equal focus on relationship building, purposeful prospecting, disciplined follow-through, and coordination across Stran’s internal teams.
The right person will be motivated to build and retain a multimillion-dollar portfolio, develop six-figure client relationships, consistently meet or exceed sales goals, and grow into a trusted leader and mentor within the Sales organization.

This role offers flexibility for:
  • local candidates to work from our Quincy, MA headquarters
  • work in a remote / telecommute capacity if not local to our Quincy, MA HQ.

What You’ll Own
Client relationships and retention: Serve as the account owner and lead the relationship for assigned and self-generated clients. Build credibility with primary contacts, decision-makers, and additional stakeholders while maintaining a clear understanding of client expectations, brand standards, contract terms, and business priorities.
  • Portfolio growth: Create account growth, penetration, and retention strategies that expand year-over-year revenue and gross profit. Map client organizations, reach new departments and contacts, identify event-driven and recurring opportunities, and pursue the full spend potential of each account.
  • New business development: Consistently prospect for and qualify new opportunities, convert leads, and add new clients to the portfolio. Use available research and enrichment tools, including LinkedIn and other social channels, to evaluate account potential and support focused outreach.
  • Strategic solutions: Develop practical sales and marketing plans that address client needs and position Stran as a strategic business partner, not simply a supplier. Identify opportunities across transactional business, promotional products, branded merchandise, fulfillment, and online company stores.
  • Client communication: Maintain direct, professional communication with client stakeholders. Lead recurring client meetings and business reviews, use video and in-person conversations to strengthen relationships, and travel to client locations or events when appropriate.
  • Cross-functional execution: Partner closely with Strategic Account Managers and Stran Shared Services teams to prioritize deliverables, coordinate presales support, onboard new clients, execute opportunities, and maintain a consistent client experience.
  • Performance management: Use sales reports, account analysis, and business metrics to manage weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. Track booked and billed sales, gross profit, work in process, and other relevant KPIs, and adjust account plans based on performance.
How You’ll Work
  • Establish and lead weekly client and internal meetings to align priorities, responsibilities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Oversee work in process and act quickly when orders stall, information is missing, or issues require escalation.
  • Plan for known client events, large-order opportunities, annual merchandise roadshows, and other high-value initiatives.
  • Coordinate product presentations and presales support while keeping primary focus on growth opportunities and the overall client relationship.
  • Work with the Company Store Program Team to identify, launch, and support online store opportunities that meet client expectations.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership, New Business Development, Operations, IT, Marketing, Creative Services, Finance, and other teams to acquire, onboard, and grow clients.
  • Manage escalations through clear documentation, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and timely client communication.
  • Confirm orders and instructions are accurate, complete, and clearly communicated to internal teams, suppliers, and clients.
  • Ensure client contracts, brand guidelines, Stran policies, procedures, protocols, systems, and CRM documentation requirements are followed.
  • Support client events, industry events, trade shows, and supplier meetings when needed, and maintain current knowledge of product, industry, and retail merchandise trends.
  • Partner with Finance and clients as needed to help resolve aging account balances and support account health.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, share effective practices, and contribute to continuous improvement across Sales and Shared Services.
  • Participate in company training, meetings, professional development, and other responsibilities assigned by Sales Leadership.
What You’ll Bring
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • At least two years of promotional products industry sales experience.
  • Demonstrated experience generating new client opportunities, converting leads, and developing a portfolio of accounts.
  • Strong client management, negotiation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of how decisions are made within organizations and how businesses across industries operate and go to market.
  • Knowledge of how promotional products are used to support business and marketing objectives.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, revenue, gross profit, and top- and bottom-line performance analysis.
  • The ability to use data, reporting, and account analysis to develop sound performance assumptions and actions.
  • An understanding of logistics, warehousing, fulfillment, and online company-store management.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills and the ability to become proficient in Stran’s technology solutions.
  • Experience using a CRM and the discipline to maintain accurate, timely documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects, solve problems, maintain attention to detail, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • The interest and potential to lead, mentor, and motivate others as professional experience grows.
What Success Looks Like
  • Sales goals are met or exceeded, and the assigned portfolio grows profitably year over year.
  • Client relationships are strong, expectations are clear, and feedback reflects a high level of satisfaction.
  • Account penetration plans produce new opportunities across departments, contacts, events, and service categories.
  • Clients receive proactive, creative, and practical product, sales, marketing, and account strategies.
  • Orders and business activity are accurate, coordinated effectively, and documented appropriately in Stran systems.
  • Commitments are met, issues are addressed with sound judgment, and performance remains steady under pressure.
  • The Strategic Account Executive collaborates well, values different perspectives, supports team goals, and places the company’s interests ahead of individual or team preferences.
  • The full Stran product and service offering is understood and represented effectively.
