POSITION SUMMARY:

The Downtown Ambassador Specialist helps create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for visitors, residents, and the street population. They maintain Downtown’s appearance through daily cleaning and interact respectfully with the community, reporting incidents when needed. Ambassadors are friendly, professional, and attentive to their surroundings, supporting the vision of a vibrant Downtown.

Typical duties may include but not limited to:

  • Assist with daily operations to ensure a clean and safe downtown environment.
  • Perform trash, leaves, snow, and ice removal across designated areas.
  • Pressure wash sidewalks and maintain cleanliness.
  • Remove litter from planters, tree pits, and stairwells.
  • Ensure bus shelters are clean and free of litter.
  • Empty and maintain trash receptacles throughout the area.
  • Engage with local businesses and employees to address concerns and promote cleanliness.
  • Assist with event preparation and cleanup.
  • Provide Human Services outreach to those in need within the community.
  • Complete weekly activity reports using Microsoft.
  • Attend community meetings as requested by the supervisor.
  • Collaborate on problem-solving when issues arise.
  • Regularly assess city property (e.g., streetlights, trash cans) to ensure they are operational.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid PA driver’s license.
  • Previous experience performing manual work.
  • Fluent in English; bilingual preferred.
