POSITION SUMMARY The Vocational Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the vocational program. The Vocational Supervisor will oversee site management, safety regulations, motor vehicles, materials handling, and the smooth flow of work. This person is also responsible for the supervision of personnel, including conducting annual performance appraisals. 


Requirements

   

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Personnel management, orientation, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation of staff.

 2. Site management including ordering of supplies, machine repair, warehouse organization. 

3. Maintain fire and physical safety regulations.

 4. Development and implementation of designated production and/or program and/or community activities.

 5. Provide supervision and assistance to Program Participants during work hours, before and after program hours.

 6. Maintenance of program motor vehicles.

 7. Assist staff with materials handling, bringing work in/out/wrapping skids, operating the tow motor.

 8. Accurate and timely completion of required or requested paperwork.

 9. Help ensure the smooth flow of work, including quality control, and meeting quota deadlines.

 10. Knowledge of emergency procedures. 

11. Attend meetings and trainings as required. 

12. Implementation of policies and procedures. 

13. Regular attendance at work.

 14. Other duties as assigned.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college; or an Associate’s Degree and two years’ work experience in industrial work; or a high school diploma and four years’ experience in industrial work, which includes at least two years supervisory experience.
2. Familiarization with methods and materials for education, training and production management of persons with development disabilities.
3. Demonstrated leadership ability.
4. Valid Driver’s License.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an
employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the Workshop
Supervisor’s job. Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with

• Safety precautions are observed in order to reduce incidents of risk factors for
typical office environment which are adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
Example: avoiding trips and falls, back care, and observing fire regulations.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit,
stand, walk, and use hands; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or
crouch. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee
may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is
usually moderate.
• Ability to move in and around personal workspace and to and from other areas of the
office or building to deliver/retrieve material, attend meetings, or other activities
outside of personal workspace with reasonable accommodations, if necessary, to
perform essential job functions successfully.
