The Associate Director supports the mortgage origination process by building and maintaining relationships with borrowers and serving as their primary contact. Acting as a financial intermediary between clients, internal capital sources, and third-party capital sources, the role ensures effective communication to facilitate agreement on financing terms.

 

Responsibilities  

  • Drive deal sourcing through independent origination efforts. 

  • Conduct borrower due diligence by analyzing financial data and pre-screening qualifications. 

  • Gather and analyze third-party reports for inclusion in loan packages for underwriter review. 

  • Model complex property cash flows to assess deal viability. 

  • Maintain accurate and timely reporting of the company's deal pipeline to ensure up-to-date transaction information. 

  • Participate in client meetings to build foundational relationships with borrowers. 

  • Collaborate to acquire new customers and leverage existing ones by staying informed on market and industry trends. 

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of various loan programs, including those from government agencies and life insurance companies. 

  • Assist in preparing loan submission packages that meet the requirements of Berkadia’s capital sources. 

  • Achieve annual performance goals for originating financial transactions as set by the EVP, under the supervision of the Senior Managing Director. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable license requirements, and assist the Law Department with regulatory reports. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and maintaining client relationships. 

  • Proficiency in financial modeling and familiarity with mortgage industry software. 

  • Ability to stay informed on market trends and adapt strategies accordingly.
