Haley Volvo of Richmond is looking for a Technician Apprentice. The apprentice assists senior technicians with routine services and minor repairs while building hands-on diagnostic and mechanical skills. This entry-to-mid-level role combines daily shop work with ongoing technical training.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Routine Maintenance: Perform oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, wheel balancing, and battery installations.
  • Vehicle Inspections: Conduct multi-point safety checks, visual brake inspections, and basic system testing.
  • Shadowing & Assisting: Work side-by-side with master technicians on advanced diagnostics, suspension adjustments, and complex engine repairs.
  • Shop Upkeep: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace, keeping tools and equipment properly stored.
  • Documentation: Record service work, check maintenance schedules using database tools, and report equipment defects to supervisors.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or GED; current enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary automotive training program is often preferred.
  • Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, basic hand tool knowledge, and willingness to learn complex electrical or drivability systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and possess good manual dexterity.
  • Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
