Geography & History Teacher (Humanities)

Job Objective: To provide high-quality instruction in Geography and History according to accredited international curricula (IB, Cambridge IGCSE, British, or American Curriculum). The role aims to foster critical thinking, research, analytical, and inquiry skills among students, while deepening their understanding of historical events and geographical phenomena in connection with the contemporary world. The teacher is expected to maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that ensures optimal educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum and school objectives.
  

• Teach Geography and History using modern, interactive pedagogical strategies that enhance student engagement.
  

• Develop comprehensive weekly, termly, and annual lesson plans.
  

• Design and implement classroom and extracurricular activities that cultivate research, inquiry, and critical thinking skills.
  

• Integrate educational technology and digital tools to support the teaching and learning process.
  

• Prepare and grade various assessments, analyze student results, and develop necessary improvement plans.
  

• Monitor students' academic and behavioral progress and provide appropriate feedback to students and parents.
  

• Prepare academic reports and end-of-term evaluations in compliance with school policies.
  

• Apply differentiated instruction strategies to meet the diverse needs of all students.
  

• Manage the classroom effectively to maintain a positive, safe, and motivating learning environment.
  

• Participate in academic meetings, professional development programs, workshops, and school events.
  

• Engage in educational trips, Model United Nations (MUN) projects, and extracurricular activities as required.
  

• Adhere to school policies, regulations, safeguarding procedures, and all health and safety requirements.
  

• Perform any other duties assigned by the School Principal or Head of Department consistent with the nature of the role.
  

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, History, Social Studies, or a related field.
  

• A teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or a Teaching Diploma) is highly preferred.
  

• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  

• Competency in Microsoft Office suite and e-learning platforms.
  

• Prior experience with international curricula (IB, Cambridge, IGCSE, British, or American) is preferred.
  

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience teaching Geography and History.
  

• Experience in an international school setting is preferred.
  

• Experience teaching Middle and High School levels.
  

• Proven experience in preparing lesson plans, international assessments/evaluations, and analyzing student performance data.
