Job Details

Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrates clinical competency in completion of assessments of the psychiatric and substance abuse patient that presents to the ED                                           
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with the agitated or combative patient(s)     
  • Works collaboratively with the psychiatric on-call staff to provide appropriate dispositio                 
  • Demonstrates an understanding of psychotropic meds, their effect on patients presenting for care and the appropriate use                                                 
  • Completes all required documentation and legal papers                                           
  • Effectively communicates with Ed staff to promote timely movement of patients                                     
  • Returns urgent phone calls within 15 minutes and provides appropriate follow-up                
  • Reviews clinical information and accepts transfers in accordance with established guidelines  
  • Reviews medical information to detect significant treatment issues                                                         
  • Maintains collaborative relationship with referral sources                                                      
  • Completes all insurance precertification’s within established time frames                             
  • Responds to all liaison requests, providing assessment and referral and follow up                         
  • Effectively uses an understanding of physiologic conditions when they present con currently with mental health issues                                           
  • Completes goals and assigned projects in a timely manner.                       

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  BSN preferred
  • Experience/skills: Experience in a patient care and/or Emergency Room or Psychiatric setting preferred; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to relate effectively to patients, families and staff;
  • Current NYS RN license required
  • BLS certification required

 

                            

                                                         



Salary Range

USD $58.43 - USD $58.43 /Hr.



This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
