SUMMARY:
The role of the EHS Engineer is to eliminate or control hazardous conditions resulting from human error, equipment and machine operations which may lead to human injury and / or property damage. Must apply advanced mathematical techniques; professional engineering principles, methods, and techniques; safety-related elements of the physical sciences, ergonomics, psychology and physiology; and safety principles, standards, practices and analytical techniques.Â

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Â Â
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field; equivalent combinations of Â
technical education and / or industrial related safety experience may substitute for educational Â
requirementÂ
Experience in occupational Environmental Health + Safety or a related fieldÂ
Construction industry experienceÂ
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulationsÂ
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measuresÂ
Possesses strong communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization and external to DAVISÂ

TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Field Safety Inspections and Hazard ControlÂ
Conducts EHS inspections independently, identifying hazards and verifying corrective actionsÂ
Documents findings and follow-up actions using DAVIS EHS systemsÂ
Communicates observed risks clearly to field personnel and trade partnersÂ
Applies knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and means-and-methods to assess hazardsÂ
Safety Planning and High-Risk Work ReviewÂ
Reviews Pre-Task Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, and high-risk work plans (e.g., crane lifts, demolition, fall protection)Â
Evaluates adequacy of hazard controls and collaborates with project teams to improve planningÂ
Applies understanding of construction sequencing and site logistics to support proactive risk managementÂ
Trade Partner and Project Team Leadership EngagementÂ
Builds working relationships with trade partners to reinforce EHS expectationsÂ
Evaluates trade partner compliance with site-specific safety requirementsÂ
Engages operations leadership by sharing safety performance updates and seeking input on EHS outcomesÂ
Training, Education and Meeting FacilitationÂ
Delivers and co-instructs EHS training in field and classroom settingsÂ
Develops basic training materials and presentation contentÂ
Prepares EHS agenda items for project and trade partner meetingsÂ
Presents safety-related material clearly and professionallyÂ
Incident Investigation and Corrective Action SupportÂ
Participates in incident investigations by gathering facts and identifying contributing factorsÂ
Supports root cause analysis and incident reporting processesÂ
Assists project teams in identifying and tracking corrective actionsÂ
Project Assessments and Audits Â
Completes Monthly Project EHS Assessments and facilitates engagement on findingsÂ
Works with senior EHS and operations staff to develop corrective action plansÂ
Assists with EHS audits on projects outside primary assignments to support consistency and benchmarkingÂ
Project Start-Up and Site ControlsÂ
Supports project EHS start-up activities, including signage, postings, and site orientationÂ
Conducts or supports EHS kick-off meetings and trade partner preconstruction meetingsÂ
Uses EHS permitting processes to support safe execution of high-risk activitiesÂ
Documentation, Data Systems and ReportingÂ
Uses DAVIS systems to manage inspections, permits, incidents, and documentationÂ
Maintains accurate records and supports logistics planning and reportingÂ
Prepares and distributes meeting minutes to document discussions and track action itemsÂ
Regulatory Knowledge and Performance AnalyticsÂ
Participates in OSHA inspections and consultations, representing DAVIS professionallyÂ
Applies OSHA, local regulations, DAVIS EHS Manual, and contract requirements to field conditionsÂ
Begins analyzing field data and metrics to identify trends and support performance improvementÂ
Professional Development and OutreachÂ
Manages responsibilities across multiple active projects with effective prioritization and follow-throughÂ
Maintains required certifications (OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR) and pursues continued developmentÂ

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is
$78,000.00 - $95,000.00DAVIS is committed to providing our employees with a competitive total compensation package that enhances your quality of life.
