2027 Dates

Staff Training: May 23 - June 5 (2 weeks)
Camp: June 6 - Aug 7 (9 weeks)


Camper Advocates


Work cooperatively with Cabin Counselors and support staff to provide a healthy, safe and enjoyable camp environment and experience for all campers. Camper Advocates are responsible for supporting cabin counselors in the effective behavioral and emotional support of campers.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support cabin counselors and campers in creating a positive cabin environment.
  • Communicate with cabin counselors, camp office, and program directors on camper wellbeing and experience.
  • Communicate with parents in a professional and solution-focused manner regarding camper experiences.
  • Support camper emotional and behavioral needs with issues such as homesickness, anxiety, or making friends, and refer and report incidents to the appropriate program director.
  • Conduct weekly camper satisfaction surveys and follow-up with counselors and campers to ensure camper needs are met.
  • Work with lead instructors, program directors, and others to schedule and facilitate special events including evening activities, early-birds, sneakouts, and night-owls.
  • Collect camper schedule preferences and assign campers to courses and classes each day.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 2 years of college education.
  • Experience working with children and/or teens in a camp or educational setting.
  • A desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Ability to work flexibly, balancing tasks with unexpected camper needs.
  • Have a passion for science, animals, and childhood development.
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions in a constructive manner.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision.
  • Be willing to learn new concepts and skills.
  • Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others.
  • Willingness to adhere to camp’s code of conduct, rules, and policies.



Benefits

Starting pay $4050 for 11 week summer. Additional $100 credit in camp store for snacks and supplies. Housing, meals, and laundry included. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. Two 1-hour breaks provided each day, and 1 scheduled day off each week.
