2027 Dates

Lead Instructor Training: May 20-21 (2 days)
Staff Training: May 23 - June 5 (2 weeks)
Camp: June 6 - Aug 7 (9 weeks)


Lead Instructors


Responsible for maintaining program areas and facilitating activities for campers in their assigned areas, including classes, early-bird, and night-owl activities.


Available Lead Instructor areas of specialty:
  • Science - physics, engineering, chemistry, crime science, culinary science
  • Nature (one female, one male)- survival skills, caving, pond study, caving, plant identification, entomology, nature hiking
  • Adventure - archery, riflery
  • Ropes Course - zipline, rappel, crate stacking, rock climbing, giant swing
  • Arts & Crafts - pottery, ceramics, crafts

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide instruction of assigned camp activities to campers.
  • Coordinate with the special events coordinator to schedule and facilitate early-bird and night-owl activities in assigned areas.
  • Manage camper behavior to ensure all campers are actively and positively participating.
  • Ensure the safety of all campers when participating in camp activities.
  • Keep program areas clean and supplies well-maintained.
  • Lead camp activities, songs, and games that are engaging and age-appropriate.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 1 year of college education; specialization in associated program area is desirable.
  • A desire to positively impact the life of a child and a willingness to put the needs of campers first.
  • Have a passion for science, animals, and childhood development.
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas, thoughts, and instructions in a constructive manner.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on tasks and assigned goals with minimal supervision.
  • Be willing to learn new concepts and skills.
  • Able to work in a team and both give and take direction from others.
  • Willingness to adhere to the camp’s code of conduct, rules, and policies.



Benefits

Starting pay $4500 for 11 week summer. Additional $100 credit in camp store for snacks and supplies. Housing, meals, and laundry included. Weekend work is required, this position requires availability to work on-site 7 days a week for the contract period. Two 1-hour breaks provided each day, and 1 scheduled day off each week. Additional leadership training and certifications are available to the right candidates, including high ropes course and lifeguard certifications.
