- Manufacture new parts and modify existing components according to blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions using various machine tools.
- Perform machining operations to restore components to their proper working condition.
- Accurately interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to understand specifications and tolerances.
- Select appropriate materials based on application requirements and material properties.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, dial indicators) to ensure parts meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on assigned machine tools, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor adjustments, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while operating machinery and handling materials. Identify and report any unsafe conditions.
- Work effectively with maintenance technicians, engineers, and other departments to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any modifications made.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized machinist apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training is highly preferred.
- Proven experience as a machinist, preferably in a maintenance environment.
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, techniques, and tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematic and to use precision measuring instruments accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and good communication skills.
