Performs hemodynamic monitoring procedures of a highly specialized nature as well as assists the physician during all procedures. Works with patients from adolescents to geriatrics. In addition, trains Cardiovascular Technicians and other Cath Lab personnel. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Responsibilities

General Functions:
 Performs hemodynamic monitoring procedures 
ï‚· Scrubs and assists physicians with procedures
ï‚· Monitors different cardiac procedures and calculates hemodynamic data
ï‚· Demonstrates the proper operations of Cath Lab/Special Procedures equipment
 Assists the nursing personnel with emergency procedures for sudden adverse development in a 
patient’s condition
ï‚· Assumes responsibility for maintenance and quality control of equipment as training allows
ï‚· Performs functions under the direction and supervision of an RN
ï‚· Assumes on-call duty. Responds within 30 minutes to the hospital for emergency procedures
ï‚· Functions as a preceptor to new cardiovascular technologists and other Cath Lab personnel
ï‚· Cleans and packages instruments/supplies for sterilization; delivers to and retrieves from sterilization area
ï‚· Keeps Cath lab and Special Procedures areas clean at all times
ï‚· Orders and maintains appropriate levels of supplies
ï‚· Assumes role of a Monitor Tech as needed, ensuring that data documented is complete and accurate
ï‚· Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
ï‚· Maintains safe environment
ï‚· Addresses patient population-specific needs
ï‚· Participates in Performance Improvement activities
 

 

 

Qualifications

Education:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in health science. or equivalent education

Experience:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years of interventional Cath Lab or 2 years of Electrophysiology experience. 

Certifications:
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) 
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist (LMRT)
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): 
ï‚· Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
ï‚· AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role.
