- Prepare detailed cost estimates for:Â
- Detention equipment packages (doors, frames, hardware, security glazing, etc.)Â
- Fabricated components and assembliesÂ
- Modular / precast-integrated systemsÂ
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and BIM modelsÂ
- Analyze bid documents, specifications, and scope requirementsÂ
Manufacturing & Fabrication Integration
- Develop estimates that reflect actual shop production workflows, including:Â
- Labor hours (welding, fabrication, assembly)Â
- Material costs (steel, hardware, specialty components)Â
- Equipment utilization and throughput constraintsÂ
- Coordinate with production teams to validate:Â
- Fabrication methodsÂ
- Cycle timesÂ
- Shop capacity impactsÂ
Vendor & Procurement Coordination
- Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractorsÂ
- Level bids and ensure scope coverage aligns with project requirementsÂ
- Work with procurement to identify cost-saving opportunities and long-lead risksÂ
Field Installation & Logistics
- Incorporate field labor, installation sequencing, and site constraints into estimatesÂ
- Coordinate with field operations to validate:Â
- Crew sizing and productivity ratesÂ
- Travel, per diem, and site conditionsÂ
- Account for shipping, handling, and logistics of manufactured componentsÂ
Scope Development & Risk Management
- Clearly define inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions in all estimatesÂ
- Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, and constructability risksÂ
- Support value engineering efforts and alternative design solutionsÂ
Preconstruction Collaboration
- Work closely with:Â
- Design team (AOR, internal design/BIM)Â
- EngineeringÂ
- Operations and field leadershipÂ
- Support design-assist and design-build efforts with real-time pricing inputÂ
