Job Summary

The Service Technician II – Plumbing is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in commercial or residential settings. This role involves reading blueprints and drawings to plan layouts for plumbing, waste disposal, and water supply systems. The technician cuts, assembles, and installs pipes and tubing with consideration for existing infrastructure such as electrical systems, and ensures the proper functioning of water supply systems.


Essential Duties

  • Diagnose plumbing issues through observation, testing, and setup as required by trade/position. Perform disassembly and reassembly of commercial or residential equipment for troubleshooting. Operate hand tools, power tools, gauges, and testing equipment proficiently.
  • Handle various plumbing repairs including stoppages/cabling, pumping, backflow testing/repair/replacement, fixture installation/replacement, and general troubleshooting. Also manage domestic water/sewer or storm water leak/repair, fixture rough-in, pump replacement/repair, leak locating/line tracing, hydro jetting, and camera work.
  • Responsible for water heater troubleshooting, replacement, and maintenance, as well as boiler maintenance.
  • Participates in technician on-call-stand-by rotation as dictated by business unit policies and procedures.
  • Safely drives a motor vehicle and trailer as evidenced by past driving performance record. Meets requirements of company vehicle driving policy, and adheres to all company safety requirements.
  • Completes documentation of invoicing data based on hours worked and materials/equipment used to complete the service.
  • Maintains equipment, tools, and inventory stock on service vehicle.
  • Purchases materials and issues purchase order numbers to suppliers.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED is a minimum requirement for this position.

A two-year technical degree in a related field is preferred for this role.

Must possess registrations, professional licenses, and/or certifications as mandated by the position.

Two to five years of experience as a Service Technician.

Required plumbing repair skills: stoppages/cabling, pumping and backflow testing/repair/replacement, fixture install/replacement, general troubleshooting and repair, domestic water/sewer or storm water leak/repair, fixture rough-in, pump replacement/repair, leak locating/line tracing, hydro jetting and camera.

Required water heater skills: planned maintenance, troubleshooting an replacement.

Required boiler skills: planned maintenance.

Must be able to read schematics and blue prints.

Diagnostic ability as demonstrated through prior experience and/or training.

Performs as self-managed individual.

Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.

Demonstrates strong business ethics at all times.
