Commercial Diver

Pacific Maritime Group is seeking a Commercial Diver for our San Diego facility. This full-time role splits time between underwater vessel maintenance and topside pier support. The successful candidate will serve as the primary diver on a 3-man OSHA-approved dive team utilizing surface-supplied air to clean hulls and replace zincs at the company pier. Secondary functions include assisting mechanical staff and supporting daily pier operations as directed.

Responsibilities 

• Serve as the primary diver on a 3-man OSHA-approved dive team utilizing surface-supplied air for underwater operations.
• Execute diving operations to visually inspect vessel hulls, propellers, and running gear.
• Operate company-provided underwater power scrubbers to clean vessel hulls and clear sea intakes.
• Inspect, remove, and replace sacrificial anodes (zincs) to prevent galvanic corrosion.
• Assist top-side mechanics and operational staff with general maintenance tasks and physical labor as assigned.
• Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and proper stowage of personal diving equipment, surface-supplied air systems, and company tools.
• Ensure all underwater and topside work complies with established site safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and PMG’s Safety Management System (SMS) protocols.
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements & Qualifications

• Valid commercial diving certification or formal training in surface-supplied air operations.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to utilize standard hand tools.
• Ability to follow strict safety directives and take direction for routine tasks.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid Driver License.
• Preferred: Prior experience with underwater hull cleaning, power scrubbers, or zinc replacement.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to swim and sustain extended periods in the water.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment on the pier and in the water.
• Adequate hearing and vision ability.
• Proper heat/cold tolerance, working in all weather and water conditions.
• Comfortable working while exposed to grease, dirt, paint, marine environments, and water.

Wage

$30.00/hr.
