  • Scripps Health is seeking full-time Medical Assistants to work varied shifts between 7am-7pm, generally Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, across various campuses in San Diego County.
  • The position offers an additional ~$3/hr for the Scripps Systemwide Resource Services (SSRS) Differential due to its traveling nature.
  • Candidates must have completed a formal Medical Assistant Program or hold a Medical Assistant Certification, or possess a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman, along with a BLS certification and at least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Preferred qualifications include two years of experience as a Medical Assistant, experience supporting multiple providers, and the ability to room 15 or more patients daily.

These are benefited, full time positions generally working Monday-Friday and Saturdays as needed with varied shifts between the hours of 7am-7pm. Located at various Scripps campuses. *You will receive an additional ~$3/hr for the Scripps Systemwide Resource Services (SSRS) Differential due to the travelling nature of this position within this department.

What you'll do:  

  • This position requires you to float to various clinics all over San Diego County across multiple specialties. 
  • Knowing their professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and for successfully completing the Scripps Clinical Core competency program.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized and safe environment.
  • Organizing and performing patient care services that support the physician's practice, including:
    • Assisting in preparing patients for examination/procedures
    • Assisting physicians with procedures
    • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
    • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
    • Documenting patient concerns, messages, and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
    • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
    • Performing vital sign documentation
    • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
    • Complete and accurate message taking
    • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
    • Order and referral entry
    • Acquisition of pre-certifications
    • Setting up cases in EPIC
    • Basic registration and updating of demographics


Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • One year of experience working as a Medical Assistant

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant
  • Experience supporting two or more providers 
  • Experience rooming 15 or more patients per day
