                               Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System (RTCASS) Technician, IMA
- Summary. Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated Automated Support System (RTCASS) Technicians, at the IMA, inspect, test, maintain, repair, and analyze airborne weapon replaceable assemblies, shop replaceable assemblies, automatic test equipment, and ancillary equipment failures, beyond normal fault isolation procedures.
- Duties. Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in electrical and electronic components, identifying location and extent of equipment faults. Repair equipment by adjusting, aligning, repairing, or replacing defective components. Clean, preserve, and store electrical/electronic components and aircraft instruments. Use Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) Test Program Sets (TPS) and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) to determine the cause and location of malfunctions, extent of faults, and category of maintenance required. Inspect, service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft batteries, AC and DC power generation, conversion and distribution systems, as well as the electrical control and indication functions of all airframe systems. Repair amplifier and logic circuits, microwave equipment, servomechanisms, radio frequency circuits, video displays, and power supply circuits Replace assembly components using hand tools, soldering devices, and electronic instruments. Plan and organize integrated avionics equipment assembly, calibration, repair, modification, and maintenance activities. Upload ground maintenance and operational software Coordinate with supply, operations, and other support activities to improve procedures and resolve problems. Use automated maintenance systems; input, validate, and analyze data processed to automated systems; clear and close out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems. This job requires working knowledge of technical publications, CNAFINST 4790.2 Series and NALCOMIS data base maintenance applications. The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician. Will be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, prioritize workload, and will be required to inspect completed job tasks. Will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records. Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Must have normal color perception.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license
- Security requirement: secret security clearance eligibility.
- Requirements
- Complete the Avionics Technician I Level Class A1 Course (N23A952) at NATTC, Pensacola, FL.
- Complete the USMC CASS High Power Configuration Operator/ Maintainer Technician Course (N25A725) at CNATTU NAS Oceana, VA; or (M17A728) at CNATTU Miramar, CA.
- Physical Demands. This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending, reaching, and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
- Work Environment (ADA). May be required to work in office environment, industrial workspace, hangar or flightline areas that are noisy and dusty. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when applicable.
