Symmetrio is recruiting for our customer, an innovative and rapidly growing medical device company, for a Sr. Medical Technical Support Engineer based in San Diego, CA.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, working directly with customers, and supporting advanced medical technologies. The Medical Technical Support Engineer will serve as a key technical resource, providing system installation, troubleshooting, training, and ongoing support for sophisticated medical imaging and inspection solutions used in highly regulated healthcare and manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical aptitude with excellent communication and customer service skills. This position requires close collaboration with engineering, sales, and service teams, as well as regular travel throughout North America to support customer installations, training initiatives, and technical service activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for advanced 3D measurement, optical inspection, and machine-vision systems used within medical device and electronics manufacturing environments.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, optics, illumination, calibration, and application-related issues both remotely and at customer facilities.
  • Assist with system installations, commissioning activities, calibration, upgrades, and preventative maintenance.
  • Deliver customer training on system operation, inspection setup, data interpretation, and best practices.
  • Support customer acceptance testing, qualification, and validation activities as required.
  • Document technical issues, resolutions, and service activities in accordance with company procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product development teams to identify root causes and drive issue resolution.
  • Support sales and applications teams by providing technical expertise during customer evaluations, demos, and process trials.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships by delivering exceptional technical support and service.
  • Travel to support customer installations, service activities, and training programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of technical support, field service, manufacturing engineering, applications engineering, or related experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and communicate technical concepts to end users.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as business needs require.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Base Salary: $135K–$160K
