At Waters, Technical Applications Scientists are critical to ensuring customers realize the full value of their investment through expert scientific support, training, and workflow optimization. Operating at the intersection of science and customer success, you guide users from onboarding through long-term success, turning complex technologies into impactful, real-world outcomes and discoveries. Â
This role goes beyond troubleshooting. It requires the ability to understand customer workflows, deliver effective training, and proactively drive utilization and satisfaction. You will partner closely with commercial, service, and marketing teams to support customer success, improve adoption, and identify opportunities for expansion. Â
This is a high-impact role where scientific expertise, customer engagement, and execution directly influence product utilization, customer retention, and long-term value. Â
Role PurposeÂ
As part of the Waters Biosciences division, ensure successful customer onboarding, new product adoption, and long-term success by providing technical product training, workflow and assay optimization, and post-sale technical support that enables customers to achieve their desired outcomes from our technologies and products.Â
Key ResponsibilitiesÂ
 Customer Engagement & TrainingÂ
Lead customer onboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition from purchase to implementation Â
Deliver high-quality scientific training tailored to customer needs and skill levels Â
Educate customers on best practices to maximize instrument and application performance Â
Support initial setup and validation of customer workflows Â
Post-Sale Technical Support & TroubleshootingÂ
Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical guidance across applications and workflows Â
Partner with customers to resolve technical challenges efficiently and effectively Â
Serve as a trusted scientific resource for ongoing support needs Â
Escalate complex issues and coordinate with internal teams as needed Â
Workflow Optimization & AdoptionÂ
 Drive product utilization through proactive engagement and education Â
Advise on customer workflows to improve efficiency and outcomesÂ
Identify gaps and recommend best-practice solutions Â
Support customers in achieving measurable success with instruments and reagents Â
Customer Success & RetentionÂ
Improve customer satisfaction and retention through consistent engagement Â
Reinforce the value delivered and ensure customers achieve their intended outcomes Â
Build strong, long-term relationships with scientific stakeholders Â
Support customer success initiatives aligned to business objectives Â
Expansion & Opportunity Identification Â
Identify opportunities to expand usage within existing workflows and applications Â
Uncover potential needs for additional products, reagents, or capabilities Â
Partner with Account Managers and Technical Sales Specialists to support business expansion opportunities Â
Contribute insights that support territory growth strategies Â
Cross-Functional CollaborationÂ
Partner closely with Account Managers, TSS, Service, and Marketing teams Â
Support coordinated customer engagement strategies across roles Â
Provide field feedback to influence product development and training programs Â
Contribute to a collaborative, team-based customer success model Â

Qualifications & ExperienceÂ
RequiredÂ
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or related scientific field Â
Demonstrable experience with flow cytometry applications and cell sortingÂ
Ability to troubleshoot complex workflows and technical issuesÂ
Proven ability to translate scientific concepts into practical applicationÂ
Strong training, presentation, and communication skills Â
Willingness to travel within the assigned territory Â
PreferredÂ
 Advanced degree in life sciences or related scientific field Â
Experience with spectral flow cytometry and related applications Â
Experience operating and troubleshooting cell sorters Â
Experience supporting post-sale customer training Â
Familiarity with laboratory workflow optimization and method developmentÂ
Experience working cross-functionally in commercial or support environments Â

Compensation
The expected compensation range for this role is $ 95,600.00 - $153,000.00 USD Annual. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and geographic location.
