As an Occupational Therapist at THE REDWOODS POST-ACUTE, you will play a critical role in enhancing the quality of life for patients recovering from various physical and cognitive impairments. Your primary objective will be to assess, plan, and implement individualized therapeutic interventions that promote independence and functional ability in daily activities. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to address the unique needs of patients with conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, and orthopedic challenges. This role demands a compassionate and patient-centered approach to rehabilitation, focusing on both physical and sensory integration therapies. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to the patients' successful reintegration into their homes and communities, improving their overall well-being and autonomy.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) credential in the state of employment.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• Experience in rehabilitation settings, particularly with geriatric and neurological patient populations.
• Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, sensory integration, and rehabilitation techniques.
• Ability to document patient progress and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in specialized rehabilitation areas such as stroke rehabilitation or traumatic brain injury.
• Experience working in a post-acute care or long-term care facility.
• Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment for patient care.
• Advanced training in sensory integration therapy.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective multidisciplinary collaboration and patient-family education.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities to develop personalized treatment plans.
• Implement therapeutic interventions targeting rehabilitation needs including geriatric, orthopedic, cerebral palsy, stroke, and traumatic brain injury patients.
• Collaborate with physical therapists, speech therapists, nurses, and physicians to coordinate holistic care and optimize patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly to ensure continuous improvement and goal attainment.
• Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques, adaptive equipment, and strategies to support ongoing rehabilitation at home.

The required skills in occupational therapy, physical therapy, and rehabilitation are essential for evaluating patient needs and designing effective treatment plans that address both physical and cognitive challenges. Geriatric rehabilitation expertise allows the therapist to tailor interventions for older adults, ensuring safety and maximizing independence. Knowledge of cerebral palsy, orthopedic rehabilitation, and stroke rehabilitation enables the therapist to apply specialized techniques that improve motor function and daily living skills. Sensory integration skills are used to help patients with neurological impairments process sensory information more effectively, enhancing their functional abilities. Additionally, these skills support collaboration with other healthcare professionals and empower patients and families through education and adaptive strategies.
