To learn more about how Second Harvest is responding to the incredible amount of need in Silicon Valley, visit shfb.org.   About the Position   The People Operations Analyst (I) is responsible for executing core People Operations processes through accurate, timely, and detail-oriented work. This role supports the delivery of People Ops services by carrying out structured workflows, maintaining employee data, and assisting with reporting and administrative processes. Working under the guidance of the Senior People Operations leader, this role ensures that all tasks are completed consistently and in alignment with established SOPs and quality standards. The Analyst I plays a critical role in maintaining data accuracy and supporting a high-quality employee experience through reliable execution, including using tools and technology (e.g., AI) to support efficiency and task completion. This is an execution-focused role designed to help build and strengthen the organization’s foundational People Operations systems, processes, and compliance practices.   This job might be for you if: You are passionate about ending hunger. You like working with reports and spreadsheets, organizing information, and catching inconsistencies. You’re detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable independently executing established HR processes while using sound judgment to recognize when something needs to be escalated.   Responsibilities   People Operations Execution  Independently execute standardized HR workflows (onboarding, job changes, offboarding) in accordance with SOPs Complete tasks accurately, on time, and with attention to detail Apply established processes and HR knowledge to routine situations and escalate issues or exceptions when appropriate Support consistency and reliability across People Ops processes Onboarding & Offboarding Support Prepare new hire documentation and track completion of required forms Coordinate onboarding logistics and support orientation delivery Execute offboarding processes and documentation Maintain accurate employee records throughout lifecycle events HRIS & Data Management  Maintain and update employee records in HRIS systems Enter and update data accurately following established guidelines Support data validation efforts by identifying and flagging discrepancies Ensure completeness and accuracy of employee files and documentation Reporting & Data Support  Generate standard reports (e.g., headcount, turnover, benefits) Compile and organize data for reporting and analysis Prepare draft reports, spreadsheets, and presentation materials Flag inconsistencies or errors for review Employee Support & Intake  Serve as first point of contact for general HR inquiries Respond to routine HR questions using established policies, processes, resources, and guidance Route complex or sensitive issues to Senior Analyst or Manager Support HR inbox and request tracking processes Compliance & Documentation  Execute compliance-related tasks (I-9 verification, documentation tracking) Maintain audit-ready records and documentation Track completion of required compliance activities Escalate discrepancies or concerns promptly Recruitment & Administrative Support  Support job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate coordination Track recruiting activities and maintain documentation Assist with background checks and onboarding preparation   The ideal candidate will possess the following professional qualifications: 3–5 years of hands-on professional experience in Human Resources or People Operations required Experience working with HRIS systems (Paycom, Workday, ADP, etc.) Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple processes Working knowledge of employee lifecycle processes and core HR practices Demonstrated ability to independently execute established HR processes, apply HR knowledge to routine situations, and recognize when escalation or additional guidance is needed. Strong organizational and communication skills Reports To  People Operations Manager Location This is a hybrid position working out of the Cypress Center located at 4001 North First Street, San Jose, CA. In addition to the organization’s hybrid work requirements, this position requires onsite work on Mondays. An employee’s regular remote work site should be within driving distance of one of Second Harvest’s locations and must be within the state of California. Following the opening of our Central Hub facility in spring 2027, this position will require onsite work every Tuesday and Thursday at Central Hub.   Hours Full-Time. Non-Exempt.   40 hours/week, with some evening and weekend work as  necessary.   Compensation $35.72-$42.03 is the hourly wage range for this position. The hourly wage offer will be commensurate with skills and experience.
