Position Summary:

The Pace Setter supports the operation of recreational races under the NASTAR (National Standard Race) program. This role involves setting the pace time, setting up racecourses, timing systems, and ensuring a safe and fun experience for participants of all ages and skill levels. You are responsible for maintaining race integrity, assisting racers, and contributing to a positive mountain environment.
This position works Friday evenings, weekends and holiday periods.

Essential Functions and Major Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain racecourses, including gates, fencing, and timing equipment.
  • Run the course to set the pace time for the day.
  • Operate timing systems and record race results accurately.
  • Assist racers with registration, start procedures, and post-race activities.
  • Monitor course safety and conditions, making adjustments as needed.
  • Provide friendly and encouraging support to racers and spectators.
  • Collaborate with ski patrol and mountain operations to ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Assist with other Village based events.

Specific Job Skills:

License/Certifications: USSA 100 preferred.

Technical: Basic computer skills, previous Race background is preferred. Skiing or riding at an expert level is preferred.

Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand or walk on snow for the entirety of your shift. Ability to be outside in all weather conditions. Able to lift 50 lbs on your own and up to 100 lbs with assistance.

Additional: Excellent guest and employee relations
 

Education/Related Experience:

Minimum education required-              English reading, writing and communication.

Minimum time in related position-       1-2 years racing preferred

Equipment and Safety/Protective Equipment Used:

Riding with your own gear. Skis are required to be binding checked at the beginning of the season. We will provide a jacket and helmet
