Job DetailsJob Location: Santa Clarita Service Center - Santa Clarita, CA 91350Position Type: Part TimeSalary Range: $18.00 - $19.00 HourlyTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Category: Entry LevelPosition Summary Reporting to Property Manager, the Porters primary responsibility is general cleaning of cabins and other camp buildings on the property.  Responsibilities Other duties may include trash removal, refilling paper goods, painting, changing light bulbs, landscaping, digging, miscellaneous repairs and maintenance, and other duties as assigned by Property Manager. Physical Aspects of the Job Communicates and works with all ages and skill levels and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Needs to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Constantly responds appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Frequently moves luggage, tables, chairs, and program equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Needs to traverse and move several miles daily, at various grades, elevations, and on uneven terrain. Possess endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Needs to sustain activity at 6,000 feet (1,830 meters) in elevation. Must be able to live in a rustic camp setting and work flexible hours. Operate with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, snakes, bats, raccoons, and other wilderness animals common to the area. QualificationsQualifications (Minimum Education and Experience): Demonstrated knowledge of sanitation and building trades: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, mechanical and basic engineering concepts. Experience with a variety of power tools and equipment and the ability to maintain, repair and safely use them. Familiarity with health, safety, and fire prevention procedures. Proven ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and common sense in determining priorities and carrying out essential tasks. Ability to plan and organize tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Moderate computer skills, familiarity with MS Office. Excellent customer service skills. Must be 18 years of age or older. Completion of high school or equivalent. Ability to interact with all age levels in a friendly manor. Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR prior to first day of work. Must be committed to work the entire camp season and attend pre-camp trainings.
