Associate Director of Insights & Optimization

Cooley is seeking an Associate Director of Insights & OptimizationĀ to join the Marketing and Client DevelopmentĀ team.

Position responsibilities:Ā Ā 

  • Enterprise Analytics Strategy:Ā Define the firm’s overarching measurement framework,Ā establishingĀ high-value KPIs that link Marketing & Client Development activities to firm-wide growth and practice revenue.Ā 

  • Democratized Dashboard Strategy:Ā Lead the vision and architectural build of a democratized dashboard ecosystem, ensuring that self-service data tools are intuitive, accessible, and designed to empower MCD stakeholders with real-time, actionable insights.Ā 

  • Audience Architecture & Governance:Ā Lead the strategy for audience segmentation and lifecycle modeling, ensuring the firm has a unified, governed approach to how we define and target clients.Ā 

  • Executive Data Storytelling:Ā Act as the primary "MCD Data SME" for leadership, translating complex analytical findings into clear, high-impact narratives that inform strategic pivots.Ā 

  • Team & Resource Leadership:Ā Direct a team of analysts and oversee the offshore delivery model, ensuring high-velocity reporting output without sacrificing strategic depth.Ā 

  • Cross-Functional Alignment:Ā Partner across teams to align their specific goals with the firm’s central data-backed frameworks.Ā 

  • Optimization Framework Development:Ā Architect the "Optimization Guidance" model,Ā establishingĀ the process by which the MCD uses performance data to reallocate spend and resources or report out on campaign efficacy.Ā 

  • Data Stewardship & Ethics:Ā Oversee the integrity of the MCD data ecosystem, ensuring compliance with firm-wide standards while maximizing the utility of data.Ā 

  • MarTechĀ Roadmap Integration:Ā Serve as a key stakeholder in the evolution of the firm’s data lake and BI tools (e.g., Tableau,Ā PowerBI, CRM analytics), ensuring the stack supports advanced attribution.Ā 

  • Impact Reporting:Ā Own the delivery of "enĀ masse" and bespoke reporting,Ā demonstratingĀ the holistic impact of the MCD organization on the firm's market position and pipeline.Ā 

  • People Leader:Ā Ā 

  • Serve as direct supervisor and mentor to direct reportsĀ 

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of direct reports, ensure compliance with assigned workĀ hoursĀ andĀ monitor forĀ compliance with all firm and department policies. Manage staffing coverage,Ā reviewĀ and process time logs/time off requestsĀ 

  • Support business professional development and continued educational opportunitiesĀ 

  • In collaboration with immediate supervisor and central HR,Ā participateĀ in hiring, performance appraisals, counseling,Ā terminationĀ and other employee lifecycle eventsĀ Ā 

  • All other duties as assigned orĀ requiredĀ

Skills and experience:Ā Ā 

Required:Ā 

  • After orientation at Cooley LLP, exhibitĀ proficiencyĀ in the Microsoft Office suite,Ā iManageĀ and other firm applicationsĀ 

  • Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, asĀ requiredĀ 

  • Ability to travel, asĀ requiredĀ 

  • 8+ years of applicable experience in the fieldĀ (e.g.,Ā marketing or business development, preferably with an emphasis workingĀ in a strategy, transformation, or growthĀ function),Ā with 4+Ā years management experienceĀ (some at the senior level preferred)Ā Ā 

  • Hands-on experience in audience segmentation strategy and creation, including advanced reporting, querying, and cross-filter logic in CRM, MAP, and orchestration technologiesĀ 

  • Basic to advanced data manipulation,Ā analysisĀ and visualization skills (e.g.Ā advanced Excel skills, SQL,Ā PowerBI)Ā 

  • Ability to deliver business-focused insights and data storytelling toĀ xFunctionalĀ stakeholdersĀ 

  • Bachelor’s DegreeĀ

The expected annual pay range for this position with a full-time schedule is $200,000 - $240,000. Please note that final offer amount will be dependent on geographic location, applicable experience and skillset of the candidate.
