Jakks Pacific Inc. is a leading designer and marketer of toys and consumer products with a wide range of products that feature some of the most popular brands and children’s toy licenses in the world. We are currently seeking a Cost Engineer for the Santa Monica office. 

Responsibility

  • Collaborate with the Design team to review concept sketches and provide cost guidance during the early product development stage.
  • Develop and maintain product cost estimates, and validate costs throughout the product lifecycle, from concept through production.
  • Partner with the Asia Engineering team to analyze product designs and optimize material selection, manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and production efficiency to achieve target costs.
  • Review factory quotations and cost breakdowns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and recommend improvements to achieve brand margin and profitability objectives.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify and evaluate alternative design, material, or manufacturing solutions when target costs cannot be achieved.
  • Maintain accurate cost models, historical cost databases, and cost benchmarking information to improve forecasting and support future product development.
  • Estimate, validate, and optimize tooling costs to ensure projects remain within approved tooling budgets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in similar product development roles.
  • Toy industry experience is valuable but not a must.

  • Compensation: JAKKS Pacific offers a competitive salary. Compensation for this role commensurate with experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $70,303.92 - $75,000.
