GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing preventative maintenance and repairs to packaging equipment and machinery ensuring packaging operations are able to produce without interruption/down time while ensuring customer requirements and overall product quality standards FDA, MDD, and other applicable regulatory / statutory or ISO requirements are achieved.

Key Responsibilities: Ā  Ā  Ā 

•  Ā Ā Diagnoses problems, provides repairs and conducts PM’s to all production machinery and equipment.

•  Ā Ā Tags and maintains required records of machine/equipment operations including maintenance on all equipment.Ā 

•  Ā Ā Assists in maintaining an inventory of spare parts for Packaging machinery/equipment in a neat and orderly fashion ensuring that it is stocked with key machine/equipment parts and maintenance supplies.

•  Ā Ā Assists in training fellow Mechanics and Machine Operators on how to ā€œfine-tuneā€ and maintain machines/equipment.

•  Ā Ā Expedites external repairs on malfunctioning equipment with the support of the Lead Packaging Mechanic as needed to avoid production delays.

•  Ā Ā Installs new equipment as required.

•  Ā Ā May assist with repairs of equipment in other departments.

•  Ā Ā Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ā Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance or similar field preferred. Electrical, and/or Mechanical certifications highly desired. 5+ years industrial maintenance experience in electrical, mechanical and hydraulic disciplines in a manufacturing setting is preferred. 2+ years experience working with a PM program in an industrial setting preferred. Ā  Ā 

Skills & Abilities:

Must be able to read, write, and understand basic English. Must be a seasoned troubleshooter, able to use multi-meters and other equipment with proficiency to accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions/problems and make the necessary repairs. Must be able to maintain the Preventative Maintenance Program via a computerized program tracking requirements, and maintaining PM schedule. Must be able to compute basic mathematics (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and be proficient using the computer including the programs MS Word, and Excel. Prior use of MRP systems desired. Must be capable of standing for a full shift (8 to 12 hours), able to lift, push, pull 50 pounds, walk, stoop, kneel, bend over, and grasp objects with both hands on a frequent basis. Must have good hand-eye coordination, hold visual acuity or corrective vision including close vision, distance vision, and color vision. Must be able to work well with others, and able to report to work on time, on a consistent and regular basis. Bilingual Spanish English preferred.
