Position Summary:聽聽

Under the supervision of the Membership Director, Welcome Center Staff welcomes and engages all people into the Y and serves as the primary point of contact for all information inquiries. The Welcome Center is the primary point of contact for members and those interested in membership and programs. The Welcome Center also provides a secure point of entry and handles the majority of financial transactions for the Branch. Candidates who are available to work on Saturday and/or Sunday are encouraged to apply.

Shifts Needed:

  • Mornings 5:45am - 12pm
  • Afternoons: 12pm-4pm
  • Closing Shift: 4pm-8pm

Essential Functions:聽聽

Greets all members, staff and volunteers when entering the building and wishes them well when exiting the building.聽聽

Learns member鈥檚 names and uses them frequently.聽聽

Promotes the Y mission and cause in all interactions.聽聽

Conveys basic knowledge of all program areas to members and participants and refers members as appropriate to Y program staff or staff member.聽聽

Informs and involves members in other Y activities and volunteer opportunities.聽聽

Connects members to other members with similar wants, needs, and interest to create small communities within and outside of the Y.聽聽

Readily offers financial assistance in response to every program and membership inquiry.聽 聽聽

Maintains a balanced cash till and completes shift closeouts.聽聽

Monitors facility use for members and authorized people only and assures all appropriate paperwork is complete.聽聽

Maintains confidentiality of all member, employee and volunteer information and files.聽聽

Be attentive at all times, there is always something to do.聽聽

Seeks first to understand the other person鈥檚 point of view and remains calm in challenging situations.聽聽

Responds to emergency situations according to YMCA practice and policy.聽聽

Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling.聽聽

Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.聽聽

Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.聽聽

Long periods of viewing data on a computer and/or on paper.聽聽

Qualifications:

Must have superior interpersonal and communications skills and be sensitive, adaptable, professional, and articulate when dealing with others.聽聽

Basic math, personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.

聽Must be a minimum of 18 years old.

Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.聽聽

Ability to build genuine relationships with participants and maintain a welcoming environment with people from all walks of life.聽聽

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work enthusiastically within constantly changing priorities聽聽

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.聽聽

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to prioritize appropriately.聽聽

Must have effective conflict resolution skills.聽聽

Ability to attend required trainings and meets outside of regular work schedule.聽聽

Must be able to work autonomously within the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.聽聽

Current CPR/AED certification or ability to become certified within first 60 days.聽聽
