HR Generalist

Golden Rain Foundation – Seal Beach, CA

The HR Generalist serves as a key member of the Human Resources team, providing comprehensive support across employee leave administration, benefits, employee relations, compliance, recruitment, onboarding, and HR operations. This position requires a strong understanding of federal and California employment laws, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to manage confidential employee information with professionalism and discretion.  The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing employee leaves of absence and navigating complex leave-related compliance matters under California and federal law. Leave administration is a critical function of this position and will represent a significant portion of the HR Generalist's responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Leave Administration & Compliance (Primary Focus)

  • Serve as the primary administrator for employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA interactive process coordination, Pregnancy Disability Leave (PDL), workers' compensation-related leaves, and personal leaves.

  • Prepare and track leave documentation, certifications, notices, and return-to-work processes.

  • Coordinate with employees, managers, medical providers, and third-party administrators to ensure compliance with applicable laws and policies.

  • Maintain accurate leave records, monitor leave balances, and provide guidance regarding employee rights and responsibilities.

  • Support workplace injury administration and related documentation.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and COBRA programs.

  • Process benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, reconciliations, and carrier communications.

  • Support annual open enrollment activities and employee benefit education.

Employee Relations & HR Operations

  • Provide guidance regarding attendance, conduct, performance management, and employee relations matters.

  • Maintain confidential personnel records and ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations.

  • Assist with unemployment claims, disability claims, and regulatory reporting.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, onboarding, and new hire orientation.

  • Prepare employment documentation and maintain HRIS records.

  • Support hiring managers throughout the recruitment process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of Human Resources experience, with significant experience administering employee leaves of absence.

  • Strong working knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, workers' compensation coordination, and California employment law.

  • Experience with HRIS systems (ADP preferred) and benefits administration.

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
