About the Role:

Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is always interested in making connections with coaches, even if there is not a current posting that aligns with a coach’s expertise. Below, you will find general responsibilities, requirements, and qualifications for coaching at Lakeside School.


Responsibilities

Coaches report to the program head of a given sport and/or the director of athletics. The program includes 25 varsity teams, most of which have both sub-varsity and middle-school counterparts. Coaches are responsible for coaching duties with their team, as well as other program-wide duties as assigned by the program head and/or the director of athletics. Specific responsibilities include.  

  1. Compliance with all Lakeside School, league and state policies and procedures.

  2. Commitment to providing supports, messaging, actions, and opportunities to a diverse student body who come to school with different and evolving lived experiences and levels of preparation as athletes.

  3. Supervision and instruction of student-athletes during team activities.

  4. Maintenance and inventory of team equipment and apparel.

  5. Attendance at required program and interscholastic athletics program meetings.

  6. Support of multi-sport participation for student-athletes.

  7. Promotion of balanced achievement in all areas of school life for student-athletes. 


Requirements and Qualifications

  1. At least 19 years of age, with a clean driving record preferred.

  2. Availability for all practices and competitions from 3pm daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required.

  3. Experience coaching a sport at the club, middle school, high school or college level preferred. Assistant coaches can have only playing experience.

  4. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. Candidates will understand different perspectives, interact respectfully with cultures other than their own, and cultivate meaningful relationships with people who have different cultural frameworks.

  5. Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season current First Aid/CPR certification.

  6. Satisfactorily complete at least two criminal background checks.


Compensation

Stipend Range: $1,500-$11,000 based on sport, season, and experience level.
We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with peer schools and clubs both locally and nationally. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition seasons.
