Job Description – Procurement Head / General Manager – Procurement

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Head / General Manager – Procurement to lead the end-to-end procurement and purchasing function for a leading chemical manufacturing company. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in strategic sourcing, domestic and import procurement, vendor management, and cost optimization within the Paints or Construction Chemicals industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end procurement and purchasing function.
  
• Develop and execute strategic sourcing and procurement plans.
  
• Manage procurement of raw materials and packaging materials.
  
• Handle domestic and import procurement to ensure uninterrupted material availability.
  
• Build and manage strategic supplier relationships and negotiate commercial terms.
  
• Drive cost optimization, value engineering, and procurement process improvements.
  
• Monitor inventory, market trends, supplier performance, and pricing.
  
• Lead and mentor the procurement team while ensuring compliance with procurement policies.
  

Requirements

• Qualification: B.Sc./M.Sc. Chemistry or B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering (Mandatory); MBA preferred.
  
• Experience: 15–20 years in Procurement/Supply Chain.
  
• Mandatory experience in Paints or Construction Chemicals industry.
  
• Strong expertise in raw material and packaging material sourcing.
  
• Hands-on experience in end-to-end procurement, domestic & import procurement, vendor management, and commercial negotiations.
  
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
