Company Overview

Our client is a globally celebrated pioneer and market leader in specialized smart agricultural technology, automated environmental control platforms, and industrial farm management systems. Operating across more than 100 countries, they engineer, integrate, and deploy advanced climate controllers, automated feeding/drinking networks, sensory arrays, and digital farm management software that optimize large-scale agricultural and livestock production across the globe. To support their expanding field installation and commissioning pipeline across Malaysia and the wider region, they are seeking a hands-on, resourceful Service Engineer (Agricultural Automation & IoT Systems).

Mission

The Service Engineer holds operational accountability for the on-site deployment, technical commissioning, routine maintenance, and high-level troubleshooting of automated livestock equipment, climate computers, IoT sensory networks, and automated feeding systems. Bridging hardware, control logic, and customer service, this role serves as the primary technical interface for farm owners, site managers, and commercial agricultural enterprises—ensuring high equipment uptime, system accuracy, and seamless operational handovers in demanding field environments.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

1. Field Commissioning & On-Site System Deployment

  • System Integration: Lead on-site installation verification, testing, and commissioning for complex climate computers, ventilation control panels, sensory arrays, automated feeding/drinking lines, and alarm systems.

  • Control & Connectivity Setup: Configure hardware, calibrate environmental sensors (temperature, humidity, static pressure, gas levels), and establish local network connectivity (RS485, Modbus, Wi-Fi, industrial gateways) to link hardware with farm management software platforms.

  • Acceptance Testing: Conduct rigorous Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) and functional validations prior to signing off on operational handovers to client site teams.

2. On-Site Diagnostics, Repair & Emergency Support

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Provide rapid-response, hands-on troubleshooting and technical diagnostics for hardware failures, wiring faults, controller logic issues, sensor drift, and communication bottlenecks.

  • Preventive Maintenance: Formulate and execute structured preventive maintenance (PM) schedules, component replacements, and software/firmware upgrades across client farm assets.

  • Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose underlying causes of recurring system failures or environmental anomalies on farm sites, documenting findings into technical escalation reports for engineering teams.

3. Customer Advisory, Training & Relationship Management

  • User Training: Conduct practical, hands-on training sessions for farm managers, operators, and maintenance technicians on controller operations, daily menu navigation, calibration routines, and basic preventive care.

  • Technical Consultation: Advise agricultural clients on system optimizations, energy-saving airflow strategies, and modern retrofits to enhance overall production yield and equipment longevity.

4. Safety, Biosecurity & Compliance Governance

  • Biosecurity Adherence: Strictly observe and enforce site-specific agricultural biosecurity protocols, sanitization procedures, and quarantine rules when visiting active farm sites.

  • EHS Compliance: Maintain absolute adherence to local occupational safety standards, electrical safety rules, and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines during all installation and service activities.

Requirements

Education & Technical Mastery

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical discipline.

  • Technical Domain: 2 to 4 years of active field service, commissioning, or maintenance engineering experience in industrial automation, building control systems, PLCs, or specialized agricultural technology setups. Fresh graduates with strong hands-on automation project exposure are welcome to apply.

  • Controls & Hardware Acumen: Strong working knowledge of electrical wiring schematics, low-voltage control circuits, relays, sensors, actuators, frequency drives (VFDs), and basic PLC/controller logic.

  • Networking Literacy: Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (RS485, Modbus, Ethernet) and IoT gateway setups is highly advantageous.

Operational & Personal Attributes

  • Rugged Environment Agility: High resilience and willingness to operate within active agricultural, livestock, or dusty farm environments while adhering strictly to biosecurity protocols.

  • Problem-Solving Drive: Excellent hands-on diagnostic capability with the ability to work independently in remote or field-site settings.

  • Mobility: Valid driving license and willingness to travel frequently to farm sites and regional facilities across Malaysia (and occasionally within APAC for specialized project rollouts).

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia to interface effectively with both corporate clients and local farm operators.
