Summary:

Working in coordination with the director of rehab services, the speech language pathologist lead acts as a principal clinical resource with advanced clinical knowledge and skills for the assigned services. The speech language pathologist lead performs therapy evaluations and applies treatment interventions in accordance of standards of practice, state regulations and hospital policies. This role oversees daily operations in the absence of the director of rehab services, assisting staff as needed and handling operational issues.
Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains a modified patient caseload, performs therapy examinations, develops treatment plans, and establishes treatment goals with patient input, provides treatment utilizing evidence-based practice � includes all clinically related responsibilities found on the speech language pathologist job description.
  2. Supports director with development of monthly schedules; identifies staffing needs to include use of PRN to appropriately meet caseload demands.
  3. Serves as a clinical and administrative resource while maintaining responsibility for ensuring staff competency with patient care. Provides input to manager for employee performance appraisals and goal setting.
  4. Assists director with policy revisions specific to role and monitors compliance with departmental protocols and policies.
  5. Assists director with monitoring and collecting peer review and chart audits data to ensure department maintains compliance with ongoing quality indicators.
  6. Participates as assigned in department quality improvement programs and multidisciplinary work groups.
  7. Facilitates staff meetings, if indicated.
  8. Arranges education and training sessions for professional development and competencies.
  9. Works with speech language pathologists and clinical instructors to coordinate student program
  10. Provides cover in director's absence.
  11. Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.
  12. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
  13. Performs other duties as required
