Intercoastal is seeking a professional Pharmacy Technician to work in the Oncology-Hematology department. The general office hours are Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm. The available shifts are full-time, Monday through Friday, and PRN coverage weekdays and part-time. The hourly rate will commensurate with pharmacy experience. 

Location: 3333 Cattlemen Road, Sarasota

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) as required by local regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology and medication dispensing procedures.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Must have previous experience with medication mixing (prefer chemotherapy experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a Pharmacy Technician in a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy management software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Additional certifications or continuing education in pharmacy-related fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the ordering and stocking of medications and clinical supplies
  • Prepare and mix medication
  • Act as a liaison between the Physician and Clinical Coordinator regarding medications and orders
  • Maintain Drop Ship stock and communicate with vendors to ensure their drug is in stock as well as prevents overstocking. 
  • Act as a liaison between Drug Representatives and the Physician and Clinical Coordinator 
  • Maintain a neat and orderly Medication/Mix room.
  • Maintains the hood cleanliness and yearly inspection as required.

Skills:

The required skills such as attention to detail and knowledge of pharmaceutical terminology are essential for accurately preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring patient safety. Organizational skills help manage inventory and maintain compliance with regulatory standards, which is critical in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Communication skills are used daily to provide clear instructions to patients and collaborate effectively with providers and other healthcare staff. Familiarity with pharmacy software enhances efficiency in processing prescriptions and insurance claims, reducing errors and improving workflow. Preferred skills like experience with electronic health records and insurance procedures further streamline operations and contribute to a higher standard of patient care.
