JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:              Graduate Student Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach  

DEPARTMENT:      Athletic Department

REPORTS TO:         Head Women’s Soccer Coach

PURPOSE OF POSITION: 

The purpose of this position is to assist the head women’s soccer coach in providing leadership for the program. This individual will support the mission of the university and bring knowledge and passion for the game of soccer.  Above all, this person will help guide young people spiritually, academically and socially during their time as students on our campus. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with head and assistant coaches to develop and implement daily practice plans and game analysis.
• Facilitate defensive and offensive analysis.
• Serve as a coach for the junior varsity team.
• Manage technological duties.
• Help organize and conduct off-season strength and conditioning, technical skill development, and lifting plan/program.
• Support and assist with recruitment efforts for the women’s soccer program.
• Devise scouting reports.
• Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
• Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

• Understanding and commitment to the mission of Dordt University.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education required along with admission to the Dordt University Master of Education program.
• Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate soccer skills and fundamentals.
• Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with student-athletes, athletic officials, and all university constituents.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to work well independently as well as a part of a team.
• Knowledge of NAIA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
