This Maintenance Assistant II is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance tasks on the properties and grounds that are managed by Opengate.

 Essential Job Functions

  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks, such as building inspections for health and safety issues and report findings to supervisors for follow up/ correction/ repair.
  • Perform routine maintenance of drywall (patching, sanding and painting), doors (including hinges, closers, locksets), plumbing (minor valve and drain system replacement), and electrical (bulbs, switches, and receptacle replacement). 
  • Perform grounds of maintenance, including snow/ice removal, lawn maintenance, weeding, shrub maintenance and pruning, outdoor furniture maintenance and pressure washing. 
  • Drive agency vehicles to pick up and deliver maintenance supplies as necessary.
  • Drive agency vehicles to deliver supplies to residences and programs as needed.
  • Pick up trash, rubbish and/or garbage on a daily basis.
  • May be required to move assemble furniture or office equipment. 
  • Disinfecting/ sanitizing Opengate Facilities as needed.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and power equipment.
  • Rotating on- call responsibilities including nights and weekends. 
  • Support the Fleet Operations Assistant as requested.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment throughout Opengate.
  •  Report issues/conditions which require attention to supervisor.
  • Follow federal, state, and local governmental regulatory guidelines pertaining to a safe, healthy, and clean work environment, reporting health and safety concerns to the supervisor.
  •  Participation in the Adopt-A-Highway program along Warren Street.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications

  • Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of (3) three years of experience of trade-related employment. 
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be familiar with all aspects of general building and property maintenance, related to routine maintenance tasks. 
  • Must be able to produce a quality finish with drywall repairs and painting. 
  • Ability to safely work with handheld power tools.
  • Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as a team.

Physical Requirements

  • This position is a non-sedentary role and requires frequent standing and walking.
  • Must be able to lift 50 or more pounds, climb stairs/ladders, and maintain balance on a platform or ladder, bend and crawl into awkward spaces.

Hourly: $19.25-$22.00, Compensation will be commensurate with job qualifications and work experience
