The Somerville YMCA is looking for a responsible and motivated Personal Trainer who is looking to build a long-term client book. You'll have an opportunity to train in a brand new Wellness Center with plenty of space and equipment to develop creative and progressive workouts. Some new clients may be available from Day 1.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Engage and educate members about the benefits of exercise.
• Schedule appointments to develop structured programs based on the health history, interests, goals and needs of the member.
• Develop, implement, and instruct a variety of personal training and small group sessions
• Builds relationships to maintain a steady growth of member participation and increase member retention level
• Establish support to help members meet their goals
• Works wellness floor to find potential clients

EXAMPLE JOB TASKS

• Provide Wellness Department Orientations to new members
• Identify and correct lifting techniques
• Create client specific fitness programming
• Provide tours to potential members
• Register new members or current members for on-going training packages
• Data entry tracking
• There is also opportunity to enhance career education by attaining certifications in wellness programs and instruct them as needed, like The Livestrong program for cancer survivors.

Requirements

• Nationally recognized certification
• Motivated and energetic mindset
• Willing to be on your feet for a few hours
• Enjoys interacting with people

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have HS Diploma
• Must have National Personal Trainer Certification
• CPR/First Aid Certification Required - will provide if needed

Hours Directly Related to Personal Training will depend on your recruitment style and drive.
