POSITION| Lab Technician – Robotics Lab

Purpose

 

Tosupport the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and effective utilisation ofthe Robotics Lab – assisting faculty and learners during practical sessions,maintaining robotics equipment and components, troubleshooting hardware andsoftware issues, and ensuring the lab remains safe, organised, and ready foracademic and project-based activities.


Responsibilities

 

·       Lab Operations: Ensure the lab isready for practical sessions and workshops; maintain organisation, inventoryrecords, and availability of equipment, tools, and components; issue andreceive items as per lab procedures.

·       Technical Support: Assist faculty andlearners during robotics practicals, experiments, and project work;troubleshoot hardware, electronics, sensor, motor, and controller issues;install and configure required software, firmware, and drivers.

·       Robotics &Embedded Systems Support: Work with platforms such as Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32,and robotic kits; support hardware-software integration and prototypedevelopment; assist learners with basic programming and debugging.

·       Safety & LabManagement: Ensurecompliance with laboratory safety procedures; conduct routine checks ofelectrical connections, power supplies, tools, and equipment; report damaged orunsafe equipment immediately.

·       Academic &Project Support: Prepareequipment and setups for practical classes; support learner teams duringprojects, hackathons, and innovation activities; assist in developing, testing,and documenting robotics prototypes.

·       Procurement &Inventory: Monitorstock levels of components and consumables; prepare requirements and coordinatewith vendors for quotations, procurement, and installation; maintain updatedrecords of assets, purchases, and repairs.



Qualifications & Experience

 

·       Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronics,Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a relatedfield.

·       0–3 years of relevant experience in robotics, electronics,embedded systems, or laboratory operations; strong hands-on freshers withrobotics/project experience may also be considered.

·       Basic to intermediate knowledge of robotics and automation, withan understanding of electronics and embedded systems, and hands-on experiencewith microcontrollers and sensors.

·       Basic programming knowledge in C/C++ or Python, along with anunderstanding of motors, motor drivers, actuators, and basic circuits.

·       Good troubleshooting and debugging skills, along with strongdocumentation and inventory-management abilities and the ability to workcollaboratively with faculty and learners.

Preferred Skills

 

·       Arduino / ESP32 /Raspberry Pi, and hands-on experience with ROS / ROS2 or IoT-based embeddedsystems.

·       Exposure to computervision, autonomous robotics, mobile robots, robotic arms, or drones/UAVs.

·       Experience withsensor integration and data acquisition, 3D printing, and rapid prototyping.

·       PCB assembly andbasic soldering, along with CAD or basic mechanical prototyping skills.
