Chief Engineer - Full Time Hourly

Job Details: Job Location: Holiday Inn Express - South Burlington, VT, Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00Hourly, Job Purpose:- The Chief Engineer at Larkin Hospitality will oversee the hotel's facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained in a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing condition. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep to support smooth hotel operations and provide a comfortable environment for guests and staff.Key Responsibilities: Perform routine inspections of hotel buildings, guest rooms, public areas, and equipment to identify maintenance needs Respond promptly to maintenance requests and repair issues relating to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance. Troubleshoot and repair faulty equipment, fixtures, and systems in a timely manner. Conduct room maintenance and repairs to ensure guest accommodation meets hotel standards. Monitor and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and water systems. Complete maintenance work orders accurately and maintain records of repairs and inspections. Coordinate with external contractors and service providers when specialist repairs or maintenance are required. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with workplace health and safety requirements. Identify and report potential hazards, safety risks, and major repair requirements. Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance storage areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition. Assist with renovations, refurbishment projects, and property improvement initiatives as required. Ensure hotel grounds, parking areas, walkways, and external facilities are maintained to a high standard.Qualifications: Preferred Experience:  Minimum 1-2 years of experience in building maintenance, facilities management, hospitality maintenance, or a related trade. Experience working in hotels, resorts, accommodation facilities, or commercial properties is preferred. Practical experience in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and general repairs. Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and asset management practices. Experience working with contractors and service providers is preferred. Required Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of building systems, maintenance procedures, and repair techniques. Ability to perform a variety of maintenance tasks across multiple trades. Good organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize maintenance requests and meet deadlines. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.. Knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and safe work practices. Physical fitness and ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and perform manual tasks. Flexibility to work shifts, holidays and weekends.
