Summary
We are excited to announce a new Retiree Welfare Leader role who will be responsible for development, implementation and coordination of the strategy and commercialization of WTW’s Retiree Welfare consulting and solutions.
As Retiree Welfare Leader, you will be responsible for guiding a team of subject matter experts (SMEs) who will assist client teams and clients with the full spectrum of retiree welfare related support and strategy – design, financing, valuation, assumption setting, compliance, delivery and settlement – coordinating closely with Actuarial Leadership, RRM, GCA, Shared Delivery, Health & Benefits and Via Benefits as appropriate.Â
Responsibilities
- Develop WTW’s approach to the growth and commercialization of a coordinated set of retiree welfare consulting servicesÂ
- Identify revenue generation opportunities related to retiree welfare consulting and solutions and mobilize client teams to pursue these opportunities
- Oversee intellectual capital development and distribution related to retiree welfare
- Coordinate with other leaders across the Actuarial Leadership team, RRM, GCA, Shared Delivery, Health and Benefits, and Via BenefitsÂ
- Implement and improve standards for retiree welfare solutions, such as Excellence toolkits, tools, training, and consistency with WTW standards
- Partner with Retirement and Health and Benefits actuarial leaders to lead the Qualified Retiree Health Actuary and Pricing Specialist networks, including talent development, involvement in the development of Intellectual Capital, and support of revenue generation activities related to actuarial matters. Partner with Office Business Leaders and Senior Actuaries to identify and develop local Qualified Retiree Health Actuaries and Pricing Specialists.Â
- Collaborate with the Actuarial Leadership team to address all Retiree Welfare actuarial needs for the North America Retirement business, including assumption setting, implementation of regulatory changes/guidance, addressing technical actuarial questions, and application of Actuarial Standards of Practice (ASOPs). Coordination as appropriate with the Research and Innovation Center’s technical services team.Â
- Serve as a strategic Retiree Welfare Consultant on select large client accounts, providing subject matter expertise, building teams and identifying strategic solutions for clients.Â
- Minimum of 50% of time, energy and focus will be spent on this role.

Qualifications
Requirements
- 15+ years’ experience and success in the design and management of large group Retiree Welfare benefits gained in a consulting environment
- Strong technical expertise in key retiree welfare and actuarial issues, including retiree welfare plan design, assumption selection, retiree welfare funding and accounting requirements, plan compliance, administration, and actuarial professionalism standards
- Superior ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and external stakeholdersÂ
- Track record of success in managing large client relationships and leading global teamsÂ
- Experience in managing multiple people and projects, and producing quality deliverables on time and within budgetÂ
- Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenge
- An executive presence with polished and well developed written and oral communication skillsÂ
- BA / BS plus ASA (FSA desirable)

Compensation and BenefitsÂ
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that base salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role and potential for revenue generation.
Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $175,000-$ 250,000 USD per year.
This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus.
