Practice Setting:   

  • Urgent Care Clinic
  • Must be willing to cover clinics in Princeton and Beckley
    • Sites are no more than 30 minutes apart
  • Responsibilities include:
    • Suturing wound care, I&Ds
    • Splinting
    • X-rays EKGs
    • Drawing blood, IVs
    • Comfortable seeing patients from 6 months to adult
    • Comfortable working independently
  • Patient visits include cold/flu symptoms, rashes, abrasions, lacerations, sprains, minor burns, splinting, x-rays, EKGs, I&Ds, etc.
  • High acuity is referred to the local ER
  • Average 20 PPD, 3-4 patients per hour
  • Clinic staff includes 1-3 providers per day
  • If Physician is not onsite a Physician will be remotely available for escalation

Schedule: 

  • Full-time coverage
  • Average 20 shifts per month
  • Monday-Sunday, 8:00a-8:00p
  • Not eligible for OT

Patient Population: 80% adult, 20% pediatrics

EMR: EPIC

Credentialing: 90 days

Requirements:

  • Active West Virginia licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications
  • Minimum 2-years Urgent Care or 1-year Emergency Medicine experience or equivalent

Job Responsibilities (Generalized):
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly

Skills:

  • Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients
  • Proficiency in performing physical examinations and procedures relevant to their specialty
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to diagnose and manage complex medical conditions
  • Time management skills to efficiently manage a patient workload
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team


Requirements

Education:

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in West Virginia
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license in West Virginia
  • National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)

Experience:

  • While specific requirements may vary, most locum APP positions prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

If you reside greater than 50 miles from the facility you are eligible for travel benefits. You will have your travel and lodging arranged by our travel department and paid for in full.
