Job Description
The job of the Sr. Cook is to prepare and/or cook food for patients, visitors and staff performing safe, sanitary production methods. Lead cook directs subordinate cooks and food service employees on department recipes, food changes, quantities, portion control, presentation, sanitation and policies at large. Acts as “person in charge” in manager’s absence. Shriners Spokane is looking for a full-time Sr. Cook to join the team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans cooking schedule and quantities so that food will be ready at different intervals to ensure highest quality product
- Continuously reviews and has appropriate knowledge of all food safety guidelines pertaining to various cooking, reheating, and storage temperatures, to ensure food safety
- Provides guidance to servers regarding portion sizes and serving techniques for each item
- Is knowledgeable of modified diets and refers to the department diet manual when there is a question
- Responsible for setting up and preparing food and beverages for cafeteria, special events and other meetings in the hospital
- Cleans and sanitizes work area regularly and at the end of the day using the appropriate sanitizing solution
- Assists Supervisor with evaluating and creating new recipes for our menu for customer satisfaction, improvement and helps educate food service techniques to our staff
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED
- WA State Food Handlers Card
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years' experience in medical, university or corporate dining with a HACCP program
The pay range for this position is $18.06-$27.09/hourly
