Job Summary:

The Field Operations Superintendent leads Water, Gas, and Oil operations for an assigned area of the Delaware Basin. This role leads Operations Supervisors, with Operations Foremen and field crews reporting through them, and is accountable for the safety, reliability, compliance, and cost performance of the area.

This role calls for proven leadership, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively across teams and functions, building Supervisors and their teams into a cohesive, high-performing organization. Candidates should bring experience leading field operations through multiple layers of supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12 years of experience in oil, gas, and/or water midstream field operations, including gathering, compression, treating, or processing facilities.
  • Minimum 6 years of supervisory experience, including experience managing supervisors or foremen through more than one layer of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success building high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams and developing leaders at various levels of operations.
  • Working knowledge of the regulatory framework governing oil, gas, and water operations, including OSHA PSM, DOT/PHMSA, TCEQ, and RRC requirements.
  • Experience owning operating expenses and budgets, including forecasting, variance analysis, and spend management.
  • Excellent communication skills, including distilling complex input for senior leadership and working effectively across teams.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee safety, compliance, reliability, and cost performance across the assigned operating areas, addressing cross-area patterns at the root cause.
  • Resolve reliability, throughput, capacity, and customer commitment issues that exceed Supervisor authority.
  • Ensure regulatory deficiencies are tracked and corrective actions closed across the area, supporting resolution of cross-area or cross-functional findings.
  • Manage OpEx forecasts for the area, analyze variances, and drive cost and margin improvement with Supervisors and Foremen.
  • Set clear expectations for each Supervisor, deliver consistent feedback, and hold them accountable for developing their Foremen and field crews.
  • Coordinate with peer Superintendents and functional groups on infrastructure work, capacity planning, and area-wide priorities.
  • Demonstrate and set high standards for quality, safety, environmental stewardship, and integrity across the area.
  • Accomplish job responsibilities and duties in accordance with Western Midstream Core Values.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Engineering Technology degree or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.

Relocation:

This position is eligible for domestic relocation.

Travel Requirements:

The percentage of travel required for this position is 0 – 15%.

Work Schedule:

This position is offered on a 40 hours per week schedule. This position covers 24-hour operations and must be available for scheduled 24/7 call. Candidate must live within 75 miles of Orla, TX or Kermit, TX.

Grade and Salary:

Commensurate with relevant education and experience.
