Bureau/Division Overview

The mission of the Department of Revenue鈥檚聽Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well-being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family.聽 Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self-sufficiency.

DOR/CSS鈥檚 core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders.聽 Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities.

Position Summary

The summer intern will provide valuable insight into how and where child support activities are most effectively serving customers.The work of the summer intern will lead to greater understanding of where improvements can be made and what challenges may need to be addressed by the agency.

Core Responsibilities

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Work with the Deputy Director to identify and obtain performance and outcome data needed to analyze performance.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Analyze data in various ways to gain insights into key factors that correlate with desired performance outcomes.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Develop information graphics that convey the findings from the analyses

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Draft a final written report and present the findings to CSS senior managers at the end of the summer.

Preferred Qualifications

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of basic statistical measures (e.g. mean, median, percentages, max, min,etc.).

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Familiarity with Excel tools and formulas relevant to data analysis.

聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of basic charting and graphing tools in Excel.
