Position Summary:
The Apprentice Plumber assists licensed plumbers with the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial plumbing systems. This position is responsible for supporting daily jobsite activities, handling tools and materials, maintaining a safe work environment, and participating in apprenticeship training while gaining practical field experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation of commercial plumbing systems, including water, waste, vent, storm, gas, and specialty piping systems.
- Transport, organize, and stage materials, tools, and equipment at job sites.
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install pipe under supervision.
- Assist with pipe layout, rough-in work, fixture installation, and system testing.
- Read and interpret basic blueprints, drawings, and specifications as training progresses.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and jobsite equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and jobsite requirements.
- Attend apprenticeship classes and complete required training coursework.
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and company training programs.
- Work collaboratively with project teams, supervisors, and other trades.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in a state-approved plumbing apprenticeship program.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening requirements.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn the plumbing trade.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
- Previous construction experience.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- OSHA 10 certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to learn plumbing installation methods and construction practices.
- Basic understanding of construction safety procedures.
- Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math calculations.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds; occasionally more with assistance.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb for extended periods.
- Work on ladders, scaffolds, lifts, and elevated work areas.
- Perform work in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely.
Work Environment:
- Commercial construction job sites.
- Exposure to noise, dust, changing temperatures, and typical construction site conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
