The St. Johns County Golf Club offers 18 well-maintained championship holes and welcomes players of all ages and skill levels. The Golf Club features the area’s largest public practice facilities, including an expansive grass-tee driving range, a private backside tee area for individual and group instruction, three chipping greens, and a separate, well-manicured putting green. There is also a full-service pro shop featuring nearly all major manufacturers and on-site repair service.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf with the general Golf Operations. This includes the reservations system, pace of play, offered services and clinics, proper handling of equipment, club storage, and staff development. Assumes Head Golf Professional’s duties in Head Professional's absence.
- Assists Director of Golf or Head Professional with selecting staffing employees, training and supervising both inside and outside staff.
- Effectively manages numerous types of tournaments from start to finish, including participation in meetings.
- Develop and implement adult and junior clinics and junior camps.
- Assists customers by providing and interpreting golf policies, rules and regulations.
- Works with pro-shop staff to ensure proper procedures are be followed; proper cash handling; safety standards and OSHA requirements.
- Help user groups in the maintenance of handicap records.
- Operates golf shop in absence of cashiers.
- Manages the daily opening and closing of golf operations as needed.
- Coordinates junior golf activities.
- Provides golf instruction.
- Works with starter to ensure tee sheet integrity and marshals golf course as needed.
- Assists Head Professional with ensuring the course is properly marked at all times.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner and always maintain a professional image. Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees.
- Maintains a full-time presence on the job. Works a flexible schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration or a related course of study to the occupational field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience at a golf club. Supervisory experience preferred.
- Must have a credible golf game similar to having attained a PGA Apprentice – Level 1 designation.
- Must be actively pursuing PGA membership through the PGA Professional Golf Management Program. Class A membership preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.
- Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.
- Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
- Must be able to operate a computer.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Knowledge of the game, rules and mechanics of golf, golf facility operations, and tournament operations
- Knowledge of customer service best practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skills in planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the work of personnel.
- Skill in the instruction, coaching and development of players in the game of golf.
- Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports.
- Skills in oral and written communication.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Working Conditions may include some exposure to environmental changes (e.g., outdoor weather and/or field conditions, warehouses, garages, etc.), extreme noises, odors, heights and/or dust.
- Physical Activity may include sitting, walking, lifting heavy objects up to 25lbs, kneeling, crouching, reaching, or standing.
