Sets up programs and operates Mazak CNC lathe utilizing Mazatrol Smooth G control to perform various functions, such as turning, drilling, milling, reaming, threading, and boring of metals. The successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of machine tool capabilities, machinability of materials, blueprint reading, and industrial math. The ideal candidate must be able to use precision measurement equipment such as micrometers, bore gauge, hole micrometers, and optical comparator.

Responsibilities:

Hands-on experience operating and setting up Mazak CNC machining centers equipped with Mazatrol SmoothG controls
Experience performing machine setups, tool changes, work offsets, and program adjustments using Mazatrol conversational programming
Ability to read and interpret prints, travelers, drawings, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, set up procedures, control
settings, and machining methods and sequences
Secures and aligns tooling, attachments, and work piece on the machine

Verifies and installs cutting tools in machine. Inspects tooling for proper condition
Communicates with supervisor or programming associates to resolve program or machining problems
Operates machines to the highest level of efficiency
Changes cutting tools as needed and sets up according to required machining sequence or to measure parts for conformance to print specifications, using precision measuring instruments. Inspects and measures parts for conformance to specifications
Completes documentation to quality records, manufacturing plans, SPC data collection per AS9100 standards

Requirements:

Minimum High School education or equivalent
Vocational Training/Machine Tool Technology or equivalent preferred
Minimum of 5 years’ CNC machining experience
Applicant must be a U.S. Person

Preferred Requirements:

Understands GD&T and customer specifications
Experience with live tooling
Experience with tolerances as tight as +/- .0001”
Experience with difficult to machine materials
